What Motivates You?

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.”
~Brian Littrell
What motivates you? What keeps you going when you really have no more energy left and have so much on your "to do" list that you are not sure if you are coming or going? For me the motivation is simple! Little Chick is my spark of inspiration! I want her to have the best life that each day can bring and that sometimes means pushing myself to keep going even if I would rather "take a break" and rest. It is amazing how being responsible for another little person makes one think about all the things that are truly important (health, weight, energy, security, comfort, insurance, finances, and the list goes on). This tiny 40 pound being inspires me to be the best "me" I can possibly be because I am so many things to her (mommy, caregiver, teacher, and all feelings of security). This motivates me from the time I wake up and through my dreams.
What motivates you?

  1. Motivation - such a tricky word. My motivation is reaching for what I want and getting it. If I'm happy and fulfilled then my family will reap the benefits. I also want my daughter and husband to be proud of me. Lastly I don't want to look back and have any regrets on not trying to be the best I can.

  2. Right there with you - my two little guys are definitely my motivation for everything in life! You're a great momma.... she's as lucky to have you as you are to have her. :)

  4. My kids are definitely my biggest source of inspiration. I can't give them all the credit either. My lovely cups of coffee really help me too.

  5. Hit the nail right on with this one ... my motivation is my kids, for sure. They make it worth it. Their smiles and knowing that they are enjoying life (at that it should be NO OTHER WAY) is what keeps me going. Great post, Mama Hen!

  7. Absolutely, without a doubt, my son is my inspiration every day! He's the reason I get out of bed in the morning and the reason I race out of work at 5 sharp to get home to him!

  8. I'm in agreement with you. My biggest motivation is Georgia. She's the reason I get out of bed instead of pulling the covers over my head. And she's the reason I actually put in effort to find fun things to do, so that her experiences will be rich and varied. She's the first person I want to see when I wake up and the last person I want to see before I go to bed!

  9. Love your quote...and yes, my motivation is FAMILY. My husband and my two boys bring my life to another level each and every day...watching my boys enjoying life so simply, its the most incredible thing I've ever witnessed.

  10. Children really are a great motivating factor. I think part of what motivates me is knowing that God has a reason for my existence, and I can find peace and happiness in acknowledging Him and being aware of His presence.

  11. Totally agree! My little one's keep me going. They motivate me to be a better person, to strive for the things I love.

  12. I'm motivated by my desire to be a good model for my girls. I know I'm not always perfect (okay I'm often not perfect!) but I always try to remember that I am my girls' first teacher. They model my behavior - how I interact with others, how I interact with them, how I treat animals, how I strive for my goals etc... They watch my every move, as much as I would sometimes like for them not to!

  13. Love that quote! It inspires me to dream again as an adult. What motivates me is to provide a safe, sweet place for my kids. To make life better for them! To reach for excellence in what I do. Many times I fail but I embrace what I learn from it.

  15. I've thought about this quite a lot, and I think my main motivation is in contributing something back to the world. From sharing a recipe to writing a novel, or doing my PhD to (hopefully) contribute my part to the sum of human knowledge, or helping out at Brownies to give that set of experiences to girls who might otherwise not get them.

  16. For me it's my hubby, daughter and 3 kitties. I know they need me no matter what I have to go through or do so I push through my exhaustion for them! They are my life, the reason I keep going!
